Quincey’s favorite pose

You know Quincey’s really enjoying himself when he lies on his back, belly up in the air, legs sprawled out and with a big smile on his face. Ever since we got him, he loves laying down like this! Does your Golden do this?

We had a party a few weeks ago, and Quincey was the center of attention 🙂

Wednesday Friendsday

While the pups love this blog about them, they wanted to share some photos and fun facts about their friends. Our first Wednesday Friendsday post features our friend Cooper! Cooper and his awesome pet-parents, Sarah & Paul Gavigan, live just about a mile north of us. Cooper (AKA “Coop”) is 10 years old and absolutely obsessed with his toys. This lucky pooch has 4 toy baskets (like the one featured below), and every day he likes to pick them out of the basket, transfer them all over the house and yard, and cuddle with them when he sleeps. Coop loves his toys so much that he treats them like his little babies, never chewing them up or destroying them. Coop has never met a human he didn’t love, and as long as you pet him he will never leave your side. This lover is also a registered service dog!! Isn’t Coop such a sweetheart? We love the Gavigans!

Doggy wear

My husband works for PetSmart as a package and graphic designer, so it is really neat walking into our local store and seeing so many items that he designed! Our personal favorite – the new KONG collars. They come in a lot of fun colors, have really cool reflective stitching, and are extremely durable. The pups feel so special that the their daddy designed the collars they wear every day 🙂 They are also available in a leash and harness – check them out next time you’re at PetSmart!

Separation Anxiety

Every time I leave the house, I get “the look” from the dogs – that puppy dog look where they bat their big brown eyes at me begging me not leave. It breaks my heart! Lately I have had to travel quite a bit for work so I’ve gotten “that look” quite a bit. It’s gotten to a point where Roxy even gets depressed when she sees me get the red suitcase out, she knows I’m going to leave. Tonight I’m in Denver, and I miss my husband and pups so much! Brad always sends me cute photos to make me smile. Here’s a photo he sent tonight.

Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day to the special Doggy-Daddy in our lives – my husband Brad! The dogs picked him out a special card, and Roxy even delivered it herself!

Such a good dog daddy!

We also want to send a special Happy Father’s Day wish to the pups’ Grandfathers Jeff & Steve.

Look who got new shoes

The AZ summer heat makes the pavement really hot, but it won’t stop Quincey from taking an afternoon walk! Pawtectors are cute little booties that easily go on your pups feet and protect their precious paws from hot, cold and rough surfaces. How cute does Q-man look in them? They come in pink – I think might have to pick up a pair for Roxy.

Roxy learns to swim!

Just like a child, pool safety with a puppy is a must! We have a pool fence, but Roxy was so tiny as a pup she could crawl through the fence spokes. We absolutely needed to make sure she knew how to swim, and where the steps were so she could get out if she ever fell in the pool. Roxy was a natural at swimming, but it took several trials until she fully understood where the pool exit was. Here’s a really cute video of her learning how to swim when she was just a tiny pup – I wish she was still this little!!

The start of a beautiful friendship

As the two pups started to get used to one another, they really started to love one another. Cuddling together, cleaning each other’s ears, even kissing one another – I have never seen a pair of dogs more cute together! I think in addition to my general obsession with Goldens, what really inspired me to start this blog is the popularity of a facebook photo album I have been adding to over time with photos of the dogs. Here are some of my favorite photos of the two of them when Roxy was just a pup.

One isn’t enough

Quincey made us fall in love with the Golden Retriever breed. Everything from their demeanor, obedience, and that floppy tongue smile – it’s no wonder why they are such a popular dog! After having Quincey for about 6 months, Brad and I already wanted another one to join the family! We both agreed that it was the perfect time in our lives to get a puppy.

Shopping for puppies is quite possibly the best thing ever. It’s hard though at the same time, you want to take them all home with you!! We searched through azcentral’s website for local breeders that were selling puppies. Our first stop just didn’t feel right. Don’t get me wrong, the puppies were adorable – but we just didn’t have “that feeling”. Our second stop I had called before, and the women I spoke to was really sweet, and asked me several questions to make sure we were the right fit for her puppies as well. She even had one in mind that she thought would be perfect for our personality. We drove at least an hour to far east Queen Creek and arrived to a home with 6 adorable puppies in a baby play pen. A couple were barking, a couple were jumping up trying to get out, but there was one sweet gentle puppy sitting and looking up at me with big brown eyes. It was love at first sight! Coincidentally, it was the same puppy the breeder was going to suggest for us. It was meant to be 🙂

We bought her on the spot, and made the long drive back. I was jealous because I had to drive and Brad got to hold her. Here is her first photo from that car ride, sitting on Brad’s lap.

We named her Roxy – Quincey got a new sister and friend for life!
